wow, heavily influenced by El Guincho’s Bombay video
Am I the only one who notices similarities in style between this video and the “Bombay” video by El Guincho?
First thing that crossed my mind.
Ha! Apparently, not. :)
“Heavily influenced by,” “similarities in style” ??
I’m going to go ahead and call it a “shameless rip-off.”
Except they replaced surrealism with exploitation. Although parts of it are dece
“yeah not a ripoff, same directors: http://lawebdecanada.com/“
it was directed by the same guys who did the bombay video…
Same guys who made ‘Bombay’ I think.
Directed by the SAME guys who did BOMBAY
yeah not a ripoff, same directors: http://lawebdecanada.com/
Video directed by “Canada” (via the youtube information)
may be it’s just my mood but i’d find this video/song kind of boring :(
Thirty-something Duran Duran lookalikes from Warp mumble over an expensive music video. Women lick things for unsexy results.
honestly, its a sweet video, but yea, its a bit of a ripoff of what they did last year. their video for scissor sisters in december was fucking AMAZING tho. still kind of in the same style but with a really sweet kind of italo horror narrative: http://vimeo.com/17444911
also, is it me, or does this song start to sound like a 311 song by the end?
puuh yeah again hot chicks + artsy. -artsy and it would be some generic mainstream music-video. it would be cool but it just takes itself to serious…
i dunno i don’t feel like these dudes (Battles or CANADA) take themselves too seriously. I didn’t think it was too ‘artsy’ either, though
you can take yourself seriously not so seriously. and with artsy i just mean it looks like a just-made for a subculture which like the same aesthetics, pretentious is maybe a good word for it…
Yeah, sadly the whole album is a bit of a let down.
Marc Gomez del Moral originated this style – “Bombay” and “Invisible Light” (Scissor Sisters). The imagery used here is nowhere near as challenging/compelling, and therefore fails, even as a rip off.
From now on, all ice cream men should play this song as their “jingle”.
garbagggeee. EL GUINCHO RIP OFF!
for the 11th time, it’s the same director. thanks
OK, so s/he’s a one trick pony. Except now I feel like the Bombay video has been weakened by this shameless self-imitation to the point where s/he’s a zero-trick pony.
I love the choreographed dance part at 1:35. Matias Aguayo is an awesome singer/producer/performer. I prefer his solo work to this Battles song, but it is cool to see with a band.
Though the music is awful and not worth a person’s time, they really did hire some gorgeous women.
This song bloooooooooooows
I could have sworn it was a parody
every time I hear this song I cringe. Totally irritating and annoying sound. I went to the lengths of writing on this, thats how much it hurts..
Oh, come off it, stop being so pretentious, the song’s great fun. Funky as hell and wonderfully weird, one of the great songs on the album.
This song was so good before anyone heard it. I liked the book better. This video is a rip off of the band Battles.
Brian couldn’t have said it better: “Thirty-something Duran Duran lookalikes from Warp mumble over an expensive music video. Women lick things for unsexy results.” The video is extremely stupid. Probably only horny people are fanatic about it. The lyrics are extremely stupid. The men are just mumbling nonsense. It’s not a pleasant kind of mumbling. BORING. Not fun, not funky. I don’t understand the buzz about this song. Just today I was reading the newspaper and it said this is the song of the Summer 2011, and I was very pissed. This stuff is not worth anyone’s precious time! Absolute worthless crap. I cringe every time I hear this!! RANT OVER. :(
this song and video are awesome
