James Litherland’s “Where to Turn,” which you’ll recognize as the inspiration for James Blake‘s “The Wilhelm Scream.” It’s unclear whether this song was produced by Blake’s father, or if in fact Litherland is his father, and while not exactly an outright cover, the song was certainly used as the basis for the standout track on Blake’s debut LP:

Wow. Tnx for the info. Hmmmm, I thought it was a song from the 90′s. Is he really Blake’s dad? I’m really intrigued by this one.
yeah…this is kind of unchill.

alright, 2006. ^^
But Blake said he used to listen to it as a kid. So perhaps this is an old song from his father only released by 2006.
whatever–it’s a great interpretation.
does blake credit the original in the liner notes? i don’t have a physical copy of the album yet.
nothings original anymore
dont’ think that. It’s just that nothing original comes music industry fabrications–which is what James Blake is.
i get why people don’t like his new record, but that’s a pretty ridiculous assertion. have you heard his klavierwerke ep?
<3 u james blake
James Blake’s name is James Litherland.
I assume it is his father.
The original song came out in the late 90s, and Litherland Snr. reissued it on his own label in 2006 after he got the masters back.
I think reworking your dad’s song is a pretty cool thing to do.
I still luv the guy and the record. I reckon his debut will go down as one of the bests this year.
still prefer Games Blake
U MAAAAAAD U MAAAAAAAD
