I can’t believe you’re placing the homophobia and misogyny in a person’s lyrics on hip-hop, as if those things aren’t present in the lyrics of other genres, or expressed by both people who do and don’t associate with hip hop.
As a huge fan of hip hop, I’m saying that homophobia and misogyny pervade the genre much more than other mainstream genres. If you disagree, please give examples. I can’t recall anyone comparable who is this highly praised.
The issue is, Tyler spews some pretty homophobic and sexist bullshit, and people just eat it up

Tyler the “Creator” raps a lot about raping women, especially white women. Why is that acceptable? If white men sang about raping black women they would be classified as a hate group, and definitely would not be celebrated by Pitchfork. I guess white hipsters who like Odd Future don’t actually listen to the lyrics or live in Detroit. If they did then they wouldn’t think it was so “cool”.
