A beautiful and poignant mix of psych rarities / obscurities that Broadcast’s Trish Keenan made for a friend shortly before her trip to Australia. No tracklist — they’re filling in some of the blanks here — but a lot of this stuff is really amazing. From the Arts Desk:
“Before she went to Australia Trish sent me a mix CD of bonkers pop music she compiled, I never thanked her. Its called Mind Bending Motorway Mix and I want to share it with you, please pass the link on, share it far and wide, its a little tribute to an (as a friend referred to her today) exhilarating woman…”

RIP…I LOVE Broadcast…
Thank you so much for posting this! Broadcast are/were one of my top 5 bands. I do a weekly radio show at the University of California, Riverside (KUCR), and today (Monday 01/16/11) I’ll be doing a show dedicated to Trish . . . lots of broadcast and also things that remind me of them/her. Check it out! 1-3pm PST, kucr.org. These will be some great tracks to throw in the mix.

One of my favorite singers. I was supposed to go see her in Boston in 2009, but let the date slip away from me. Obviously, regretful of that.
What strikes me is how connected so many people feel to her music. Someone put it, quite aptly, that Broadcast almost demands an intimacy from its listeners. Trish had the most beautiful voice, and she was in many ways a living prophet.
God bless her. We miss her dearly.
Thank you very much!!!
track 14 is “Devil Worship” by Carl Erdmann
