I wanna be there at least two hours before the first act’s set so I can get kickass footage of the scene as it evolves. Ever heard of “Heavy Metal Parking Lot”? Well, I wanna do somethin’ like that. Imagine being amongst the quirky/cool people roundin’ up before the show. Meetin’ all sorts o’ chill folks and capturing the exhilaration of being at a cool scene mixed with the anticipation of the marvel that lies ahead…
So, I only got gas to get there, but I feel that if I “just go” that I’ll be happy with whatever footage I bring back because after all, it’s on my birthday, and pardon my French, there isn’t any other fuckin’ thing I’d rather be doing than witnessing

I have made it my cause to dedicate the next two days into convincing gorilla vs. bear into hookin’ me up w/a flight to DAL. Watching the “NFL Champioinship Chase”. I’d like to see Packers vs. Jets for the Super Bowl (classic Super Bowl sesh). The Jets got the swagger, y’know, they’re makin’ promises/guarantees that they’re gonna accomplish a certain task… and they actually deliver. When they beat the Colts for the Wild Card they were completely on point for that last drive. They had what, a minute left(?), and they calmly, methodically got the ball across the field. It’s like something just clicked with them, and suddenly all the clutter was gone & they were supremely intent on carrying out their mission. It was a wonder to watch.
The Packers got alot o’ heart too! Aaron Rodgers is a fun QB to watch. It’s pretty exciting to watch him surf the pocket, y’know? Like when a wave is about to crush a surfer, and you suddenly see the surfer shoot out the pipe the moment the wave collapses, it’s a thrill. Rodgers boogies out of the pocket and he’s dangerous! The man ain’t slow.

Yeah, thing’s aren’t lookin’ so good for the kid. I really want to go to this concert. I don’t have the money to go, and it’s like, 17 hrs & 39 mins away. When I had expressed myself earlier about wanting to go & bein’ in my Hawaiian Shirt, Bell Bottoms and Cowboy Boots I really meant it. At the moment I wrote that I was feeling like these three bands were the harbingers of something really new & exciting. I still feel it, about the bands, but I’m doubtful about myself… and that’s no fun. The doubt started creepin’ in yesterday when I went out to shoot for the Tosh fanvid. I’m in my Bells & Boots and as I’m headin’ to the spot for the shoot I decide to check out the Salvation Army nearby, by this time I’m still euphoric about the night before and all my boastful ramblings. So I enter the store, and it’s “DOLLAR DAYS”, and I’m like, “fuck yeah!” Suddenly, I check out the mens’ shirts section and I’m surrounded by Hawaiian & flowery golf shirts, none of ‘em really fit me well, but when I try them on and strut around in muh boots & bells it just felt right! As I looked at it I thought that the lead singer of Best Coast would love it. I don’t know her or really anything about her, I just looked at it & thought “she’d love it” as I saw it. That is of course while I was ridin’ the chill wave of thought that envisioned me actually being there, somehow finding a way to meet them, and presenting them (the bands) with these “Dollar Day” gifts as if I was some type of post millenial wiseman following a star to a destination. It really sucked ’cause those were the ones I’d envisioned wearing as I was capturing the magic in Dallas. Then suddenly, the high I was on where I was an avant garde guerilla filmmaker going on a quest to capture a phenomenon, with thoughts like, “If I can document the whole tour I guarantee it’ll make it to next year’s Sundance Film Festival.” had suddenly bottomed out on me. Right then I realized that I was just some scrub in Bell Bottoms, fake snakeskin boots, and a big bag of Hawaiian shirts, and that the regs I’d toked up as I was on my way to the place for the fanvid shot had worn out. It put me in such a bad way that I couldn’t even bring myself to carry out the Tosh.0 fanvid (that I was absolutely sure gonna get aired). Anyhow, as I’m feelin’ sorry for myself as I finish off the roach I pass a car show. I stop and check it out, and the footage I got from it is pretty cool.

Just got back home and I’m dumpin’ all the footage into my laptop right now. I got a lot of footage of all three bands, and I’m determined to make a kick-ass live concert vid for each of them, and I now have live footage to cut into my “So Bored” bootleg to make it all the more authentic! The concert was great, and the crowd was awesome. I met a few cool people there as well. Thank You so much for revitalizing me!
