love you but RADIO DEPT- HEAVENS ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great fuccin lists
Chris,
My only real issue with this list is you guys gave Tame Impala a wholelottalove; I'm surprised they didn't make it. Also, what'd you think of Crystal Castles and Cosmogramma?
Either way, y'all do an incredible job.
Not much to complain about here. Kind of wish some Tomboy bootlegs made it, but that's probably unreasonable and entirely against company policy.
Great list, so many amazing songs this year! But I agree, Radio Dept – Heavens On Fire belongs there!
i really like the cover! Where are those places?
Loving that Beach House track!

This is some guy making music with pretty much just sampled and a guitar.. I thought it was pretty neat, especially the video
what do you guys think?
I do not understand what gvb sees in Robyn.
Solid List! All of my favorites are in there. But you know Color Your Life is number 1 no question haha.
Great list! Beach House absolutely but 10 Mile Stereo the best Teen Dream track?
nice list..
i'm looking forward to hearing the new Violens single 'space around the feel station' feat. Washed Out and Caroline Polachek.
And the Miami Horror' debut has some tracks with Neon Indian and The Golden Filter..
Great stuff guys. Pre-empted our list by a week. I'm loving the new Deftones, Blood Red Shoes, Besnard Lakes, Rufus, Jonsi, Broken Bells, White Hinterland and A Sunny Day in Glasgow.

Yes yes and yes.
Sweet, SeanDiS!!!!!!!! Glad to see that Mexxxi rap rock is alive and well in 2010.
errrr have ya'll never heard of these new puritans??
but yeah great list and mad artwork as usual
i'm glad you have the bitters on there, i love east general. but you can't leave out this is happening
Somebody knows the credits for this amazing picture???
Sunset!!!
Sunset!!!!!!!!!!
Young, why'd you smack JJ's "My Way" in the mouth and put it in solitary confinement? Are you saying it doesn't have equal right?
WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M GONNA DO WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE- oh, no, so you wanna know what i know?
My favorite is The Blues- Primary 1 ft Nina Persson. I love it
Celestica must be in the list!
this list is testament to the weak year thus far. since they're aping 70s AM steely dan style mopiness, if i flipped on a classic rock radio station and heard something like ariel pink or beach house, i'd say "gross that song sucks" and change the channel. so would most of you. but oh well. on another note, no liars – sisterworld? best album of the year, in my opinion. but that's just my opinion, and everyone has one.
true..kind of
best of the year so far: ariel pink, vampire weekend, beach house, best coast lp, pantha du prince

shut the fuck up
how is it halfway through 2010.
where are David's favorites?
My fave is Clark Understudy & the Stage Left's "Method Acting."
Big pleasure to listen to that list!
and what an amazing pics! wisi i'm a little boy and go play overthere!
Don’t understand all the love for Ariel Pink’s latest. It’s not bad but I just didn’t see the greatness in it…? But I’m loving Caribou, Tennis, Best Coast, and Joanna Newsom in the best songs.
10 mile stereo is the poooooooooooooop!
Dear lame anonymous dude,
LET ME TELL YOU BOUT THIS COUNTRY SHIT
Keepaway
nice list. agree with 1/2. would include hanoi janes and crystal castles – maybe they’ll make it in by the end of the year
Big K.R.I.T.
I am too good for the “pussy popping”. I am Sorry, but it is just the truth; highly produced radio trash, such as this, has no musical merit, other than the amount of money put into the engineering process, to snag culturally insecure aesthetes. Choose music for its content, not just its thematic overtones.
An inspired and influential, yet still unique, selection gvb. I reckon you’ve surpassed most other sites in terms of premium music showcased this year. My highlights hitherto this annum:
Joanna Newsom – Have One On Me
Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – Before Today (late convert)
Twin Sister – Colour Your Life
The National – High Violet
Four Tet – There is Love in You
Rangers – Suburban Tours
Caribou – Swim
Spoon – Transference
I’m warming to Gauntlet Hair too.
x
I think this is all amazing tunes… but lacking in variety. I love chillwave. Music is taking on some big changes with technology/boredom of technology. I think this list could be better by paying close attention to all music and how/why it is developing.
Thats all I have to say about that.
Getm’ Tiger….
Good list but yes, where is The Radio Dept’s Clinging to a Scheme?! Or Here We Go Magic’s Pigeons? Or Viernes’ Sinister Devices?!! All three brilliant records you overlooked.
No love for Cosmogramma or The Monitor? Also, lovin Before Today.
Great list! I definitely need to spend some more time with that Joanna Newsom album. Thanks for introducing me to Cults “Go Outside” this first half of 2010. Can’t wait to hear what’s down the road from them.
nice work!
also lovin’
Woods – At Echo lake
Four Tet – There Is a Love In You
Julian Lynch – Mare
The Radio Dept – Clinging To A Scheme
Moon Duo – Escape
Laura Marling – I Speak Becuse I Can
Alex Bleeker – These Days 7″
Why does Harlem get any heat? Why is it, that when some smart alec hip kids, make a damaged/blown out/sloppy “record”, everyone goes apeshits?
They SUCK. Distortion doesn’t equal vibe. Blogs and record store nerds need to get off it. They might be a good band someday, but they need to PRACTICE. Cosmogramma definitely needs to be on that list. Feeling Twin Sister more and more…
Titus Andronicus. Album o’ the year.
PS … I stopped listening to punk years ago.
really solid list. quite surprised that there is no love for jj n° 3 here…from anyone! would definitely be on my list.
SLEIGH BELLS.
The Beach House album is the best since burial’s untrue. If you listen to this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ0UOdBOJm8 you can experience why “zebra” is the most celestial melody ever written. This record has only strikes, the beginning of “walk in the park” is astonishing and irresistible. “Real love” is the best song Bruce Springsteen has never sung and Victoria Legrand is the greatest singer right now.
Tallest Man on Earth, Tame Impala, Avi Buffalo, Wild Nothing, Local Natives?
