how's the production on this? i hope dee dee's voice shines through a little clearer than the EP's, seems like she's in major command behind all that grime

Much better than the Contra cover for a number of obvious reasons
i wanna peep it just based on the cover alone – and it's not close to the contra cover other than the fake polaroid border.

Not a rip off, it's her mother. Vampire Weekend just found a picture of some random girl.

this cover is nothing like vampire weekend for a couple reasons: first, vampire weekend is terrible, and this is great. also, this is a found picture of her mother, whereas vampire weekend's cover has no meaning whatsoever.
Its not really cover art, but the Gatefold on Girls' "Album" has plenty of them.

OK, I am 44, and I have to say a few things. That closet set-up was ubiquitous in the mid to late 80s. It could not possibly be faked now. Second, the differences between this girl and the contra girl are that the focus of contra girl was alcohol and peer competition, while this girl does not care about much except hates it when someone spills the bong. Also, contra girl has replicated and still exists, at least as far as correlation between appearance and way of thinking. Marijuana girl still exists, but she does not look much like the girl on this cover. Maybe I am just getting too old, but I find it much harder to tell which girls prefer smoking now; maybe it would be easier with some verbal interaction, but I cannot tell just by looking.

How some of you manage to rationalize that this isn't the exact same cover as Vampire Weekend is beyond me. Yeah, sure, it's different, but who isn't thinking VW the second they see it? I'm too old to have a dog in this fight, but some of you are being willfully obtuse. Now, if you were to say that it were a comment on, or in conversation with Contra, that would be worth talking about.

I mean, sure, it does remind me of the Contra art. But I'd imagine it reminded the girls of it too. But instead of getting stuck on that, they probably said 'fuck it'. The photo is beautiful, it works.
As someone who visits this site from time to time to see what tickets will sell for the most amount of money (yes im a scalper), the album cover caught my eye. Generally I dont give a shit, but this one stood out, so I felt the need to read the comments. Ive never willfully listened to the dum dum girls, or vampire weekend. However, contra the video game is the shit – I was confused. I digress. Curiously I felt the need to see what you were all talking about. The "contra" album photo and the this album photo are nothing alike. One looks to be perhaps a young mother who is tired and is annoyed that her picture is being taken. I have pictures of my mom with a similar expression, she threatened to hit me for taking them. The other is a very attractive, wonky eyed girl, zoned out on some sort drugs making her pupils stand out enough to hypnotize me for about 45 seconds.
Any tips for indie bands being commercially pushed hard, and therefore maybe bring a nice return on ticket prices, would be greatly appreciated. I'll even toss a couple freebie tix your way if the tip pays off big.
continuing the trend of vacant, slightly stoned-looking girls as LP album covers
Contra, anyone?

I love the sound, a lot of soundscapes behind all the song, cool stuff
I can't tell…are these guys poking fun at the cover of Contra or just blatantly ripping Vamp Weekend off?
The Vampire Weekend album wasn't the first album cover ever to feature a picture of somebody's face..
yeah i'm pretty confident this cover has nothing whatsoever to do with the vampire weekend cover
terrible. nice 'artwork'

Dum Dum Girls are great. There's a cool review of them here: http://beyondrace.com/reviews/music-reviews/2454-dum-dum-girls-i-will-be-77
