NITE FUNK
“Am I Gonna Make It” is the first jam to surface from the long-awaited (couple weeks) Dam-Funk + Nite Jewel collab, NITE-FUNK, courtesy of XLR8R. This sounds basically exactly how we thought/hoped this would sound: like the ’80s (video here).

it took a couple of listens and Im not that into nite jewel and admittedly havent listened to much dam funk, but this is a pretty hot jam. I need more. now.

They're the real deal; unlike all of these johnny come lately, use to be rockers, now holed up in a bedroom, all of a sudden, trying to record beautifully sinister, lo-fi music. NITE-FUNK! This is good. Would like more.

I don’t know where I stand on this one. I want to like it. On paper it makes sense. I like Dam Funk & Nite Jewel. But it just doesn’t quite sound right. Maybe that’s the aesthetic that they are looking for. From what I gather Disco, Boogie, Post-Disco or what ever you would like to call it was just about raw jams that made you tap your feet and feel something good. I suppose this is progression but there isn’t enough of a groove in there. But hats off to them for the approach that they have taken to making music.
