I’ve been loving these brand new warm/warped, distant AM transmissions from Columbia, SC’s Chaz Bundick, aka Toro Y Moi, since he made me aware of their existence yesterday. Our friends at NPIP say he sounds like “Ariel Pink or Night Control jacking Air France‘s Warm Jets and turning them Midas gold,” and that’s maybe the best description I’ve ever heard of anything, ever. File under the fuzzy, lo-fi bedroom pop end of “dreamwave” next to Neon Indian, Memory Cassette, and whatever else we’re filing under dreamwave these days. Incidentally, the kid also posts some of his great photos and collage-y art at his blog. Sounds and visuals both highly recommended:
