We are super excited to present this lineup of four of the best bands in TX, put together by our friends from Denton’s PVC Street Gang:
White Denim
PVC Street Gang
Harlem
Fight Bite
Saturday, June 13 @ Harry‘s Pastime Tavern
Couldn’t be any more psyched about this lineup, really, which stands out in a month already packed with amazing shows.
mp3:
white denim :: mirrored and reverse
pvc street gang :: cutlass
harlem :: no true love (dixie cups cover)
fight bite :: swissex lover

Did you know that there are other Texas bands besides white denim and those douche-bags in Harlem? There are. Just saying.
thanks for leaving that comment at 2 am, i had no idea there were other bands here in TX aside from the ones i write about like st. vincent, vega, bosque brown, brazos, fergus & geronimo, sunset, etc.
Anon 2am is just mad because you aren’t writing about his shitty band.
June is going to be ace.
I don’t think the fact that I left the comment at 2am has anything to do with the message.
You must admit, you do write a lot about those bands. I understand, it’s your blog, you like them, do what you want. But you aren’t exactly expanding your reader’s horizons by continually blogging about them or booking them.
My original post was a bit snarky (on second thought maybe 2am did have something to do with it). And, I do appreciate you publishing my post, that was nice.
You’re a Texas based blog. Let’s really get down and find some acts that nobody is talking about. I enjoy your blog and I want it to challenge me.
By the way, I’m not in a band. I’m just an avid Austin music fan. If I did have a band, I would concede that it would be shitty.
well i'm always open to learning about new bands, but i'm only one person, and i write about the bands i listen to. i think if you go back through the archives you'll see i was talking about a number of these bands (white denim, st. vincent, brazos, etc.) years ago when no one else was, but i'm not going to write about bands i don't like just because no one's heard of them.
and with that said, i've written about a number of new TX bands over the last few months that i think are exciting (fight bite, pvc street gang, fergus & geronimo, neon indian)
feel free to suggest any great bands that you feel i'm missing out on
just to clarify, though, i don’t really see myself as a “texas blog” and if white denim were from NY or London or anywhere else, i’d still write about them with equal frequency. there aren’t that many good bands that i feel inspired to blog about, period, which is why i post about the same bands relatively often. if you want a broader scope, read Pitchfork or stereogum or any site that has a bigger editorial staff. i don’t feel any responsibility to broaden anyone’s horizons, i just talk about stuff i like
re: Pitchfork, did you mean to say, “broader editorial staffs, watered down content, confused identities, stolen/poor/lackluster taste, and a scorching case of herpes”????
Just curious.
Fair enough. I guess I was misguided in thinking you were trying to educate your readers. If you’re just posting what you like, then there is no argument.
I do read a lot of blogs and listen to good radio stations, so I do feel like I have a broad scope. I appreciate your clarification.
Happy blogging …
huh. kinda agree with that guy. you’re credited with tastemaking… certainly haven’t shied away from it.
I have been trolling the internet for cheap flights to Dallas since reading this…. argh!
Harlem are excellent, Free Drugs is one of my albums of the year so far.
Looks like a great line up all round. Pity I am in London.
PVC Pipe Smokers suck.
Oh… "Comment Moderation" Well PVC Pipe Gang's disgusting attitude threatens to undermine any efforts to create a supportive community of independent musicians in the Dallas area. Specifically their attitude towards touring DIY bands which reflects poorly on the Dallas "scene" as a whole. They're a band that this blog should not associate itself with if it claims to be a supporter of independent music and the community and mutual respect that independent music requires to flourish.
