Head over to Daytrotter to download their recent session with Department of Eagles. Worth your time, if only to grab the best existing recordings of new songs "1997" and "What is Your Deal?," a brand new Daniel Rossen gem that, by his own admission, is "slightly unfinished with some loose ends."

James Murphy is teaming up with Hockey Night to make "a classic rock record," due sometime in "the first half of next year." According to the BBC's Rodrigo Davies:

"Murphy said the new band had been formed by Scott Wells and Paul Sprangers, two former members of Minneapolis band Hockey Night, with Murphy himself playing bass and LCD's Pat Mahoney playing the drums. He added that some of the members of DFA act Hercules and Love Affair are also contributing."

We haven't heard from the Hockey Night dudes in a couple years, but their Thin Lizzy-cribbing "Dark Trance" still gets some play around here on occasion. Looking forward to seeing where the DFA crew takes this.
