Although the stunning venue and perfect weather might've played a small part, the 2008 Monolith Festival was one of the most enjoyable festival-going experiences I've had in a long time. Not sure if it topped day one, but here are some highlights from day two: All 4'11" of Sharon Jones absolutely killed James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," Band of Horses played a couple of great new songs and a rad Them Two cover, Tilly and the Wall's new stuff sounded surprisingly great, and Lovefoxxx of CSS brought the party in the most ridiculous getup I've ever seen. Also, as I alluded to earlier, TVOTR almost didn't even make it to the venue, then showed up with minutes to spare (looking sort of frazzled, I might add) and proceeded to play the defining set of the whole fest. Finally, Justice had the place bumping for the entirety of their set -- which was cut short due to technical difficulties -- to close out the party. I'll definitely be back next year.
