Karl Blau is an extremely prolific guy, and yet, like many of my other favorite lo-fi singer-songwriters (see Cass McCombs and Chad VanGaalen), he remains somewhat unfathomably underrated. I was a fan of his psych-folk ode to Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne that dropped earlier this year, and he keeps the jams coming with his new LP, Nature's Got Away. Our friends at Said the Gramophone call the new one, "a weird album, with teeth and feathers and amplifiers. Bits of Harry Nilsson, the Zombies, Spoon, Smog..." and that pretty much nails it. Here's "Mockingbird Diet," the album's centerpiece, and one of the best things Blau has ever written:
