This has been said before, but CP must have been absent that day: Noah isn’t singing off key, it’s in a different key than the recorded version.

just so you know CP, panda has consistently been hitting those same notes all the while they’ve been playing this song as AC. It’s just the way he chooses to do it in their version.
Panda Bear isn’t singing off key. He’s changed that “Always to have a good time” chord from major to minor in this version. I think it’s an interesting new take.

WOAAAAH! Who comments on a live show they didn’t even see? CP, Iv never seen you live, although you suck pretty bad on the internet you might be a half decent human being…might be. This was one of the best shows iv ever seen and it does not translate to video at all. there was so much bass that you could feel wind hitting my face from 5 rows back. I think they had planned on playing brother sport but they were cut off early. Chocolate Girl was an amazing opener, I love the live version they play.
I was just joking guys. I love Animal Collective, it’s just that the last time I saw them live I flipped out on LSD and ended up humping a tree and crying, so have bad memories, you know?
“Comfy in Nautica” materialized somewhere in the first half of the set…the bass was incredible throughout it…my friends and I were stunned, shouting, crying and leaping…major or minor, this melody and these words are positively life-affirming, and this performance was a pinnacle in my concert-going experience. I didn’t mean that the song itself is a different key — it’s like someone else pointed out — he’s hit those notes before (and i think i complained last time a vid was posted). my point is that the new notes are really grating and out of the key that is being played… and not in a cool dissonance kind of way.
i’m a big fan of this band, it just seems every live video i’ve watched online is quite different than the songs are on record. i’m all about mixing things up live (just saw andrew bird who seems to improvise quite a lot live, to great success), but all i was saying is that the extended drones from behind samplers would get old for me when watching live. to each his own, i know. anyway. i’m sure the new album will be great.
guys – ur over complicating things. Its an interesting band that sound fuck awful live. bum notes, minor keys, different versions, who cares it aint pleasant to hear. not every interesting/good band can play live. does not mean i wont check their music out
best live band ever. seen them three times in three different eras of their music and they never fail to please. get your ass off the internet and get to an Animal collective show. two bit youtube videos are a terrible way to judge a band.
I’m gonna have to agree with some of you. I saw them live in philly and I’ve been watching their live performances, it doesn’t seem they’ve mastered their live music. They’re still good, but, maybe after doing so many live shows their voices start to go? Either way, they’re a great band to listen to…when it’s off a studio album.
