Of the hundreds of artists I've written about since starting this blog nearly two years ago, I can safely say that no song has gotten quite the reaction that Sparrow House's "When I Am Gone" received when we originally posted it in January of this year. Tons of people emailed asking where/how they could hear more of Jared Van Fleet's (also of Voxtrot) beautifully understated, impossibly melodic, and deceptively complex pop songs. Well, here's some good news: Sparrow House plans to release four seasonally themed EPs over the course of the next year, and the Falls EP (which contains "When I am Gone") is finally here. Sparrow House tells us:
"i've recorded this ep about 60 different ways, and seriously thrown away practically-finished songs at least a few times. after re-recording "when i am gone" with new lyrics several different ways, i finally decided to just put the old version on the cd."
We tend to get a little excessively enthusiastic when talking about Sparrow House's music, so we'll stop now and let you reach your own verdict. Here's one of our favorite songs from the new EP:

Sparrow House plays Nov. 9 in NYC at Union Hall with another of our favorite new bands, Ola Podrida.
