Here's a nice welcome change of pace from the stuff we've been posting around here lately: "After Dawn" is an achingly pretty folk gem from NY's Kayla Cohen, aka Itasca, taken from her warm and beautiful new LP of home recordings, Unmoored By The Wind. Don't let Vogue's Lana Del Rey comparison throw you off; Unmoored is more reminiscent of one of the most haunting and intimate records ever, Sibylle Baier's lost early '70s bedroom folk masterpiece Colour Green. Between this and the new Grouper record, our "pensive autumn evenings 2014" soundtrack is pretty much all set (a new Jessica Pratt album would also be accepted). Unmoored By The Wind is out October 14 on Matt Mondanile's New Images label.
